the Music ...
The accompanying music on CD, composed and played by Benedict (Benny) Tan, can be used either with the exercises or for the teacher's own compositions. Primarily (although not exclusively) intended for the Allegro section of class, the wide range of tempos and rhythms will provide variety in class in the absence of a pianist.
It will also be a stimulus for the students, promoting greater expression in their dancing and increasing their musical awareness. For practical use, each track is recorded at two speeds - the slower one for practice and the final speed for performance.
Each piece of music has been designed to fit two different combinations and the time signatures used include 5/4 and 9/8 as well as all the usual. The majority are 32 bars long, with a 2-bar introduction.
The degree of difficulty of the combinations is contained both in the steps and in the interpretation of the music, providing a scale of achievement from the simpler to the more advanced.
