"The cinematheque de la danse in Paris, directed by M. Nicolas Villodre, would like to present an evening of films and footage of Cecchetti's work, any age, length or condition. This is scheduled for Autumn 2008 and follows an extremely successful recent evening of films on the work of Auguste Bournonville, danced by the Royal Danish Ballet, with some footage dating back to 1906.

The cinematheque de la danse presented an extraordinary evening of Bournonville films edited beautifully for an enthralled audience. M. Villodre would like very much to be able to present an evening of the Maestro's work in the same way.

M. Villodre would ideally like to present an evening of films with a mixture of class work and choreography/staging, even documentary footage, if there is any. It's not just the syllabus but footage of dancers in class/ rehearsing/ dancing on stage as well if possible. Hence this request.

Can you help? If you have any film, even if it is amateur footage, black and white, in good or bad condition (but at least viewable!) and would not mind lending it to the cinematheque, please let us know!

Can you email Katharine Kanter as soon as possible (please by the end of the month at the latest) if you have something that could be considered for this event? Please pass on this message to as many Cecchetti people as you can. My suggestion last week of choreography exchange between members got very little response but I'll suggest it again in a few weeks, in case members are thinking it over!

Meanwhile, I have another suggestion for the newsletter. If you go to a professional dance performance, you might like to write a brief review of the performance for inclusion in the newsletter.

The same applies if you have recently purchased, or have been using, CDs of music for class work, dance or dance teaching DVDs, software or other media.

If you'd like to share your reviews with other members - perhaps advise members on what is good and what is not so good - please feel free to email me.

Three points of guidance:

1. Try to be factual and objective in making your judgments - what is not good for you may better for another teacher.
2. Please don't send reviews of amateur or school performances.
3. Don't make your review too long.

I look forward to receiving members' responses to this idea and to any ideas of your own for improving the newsletter or DTOL's service to members.
