Nigel Grant is an experienced consultant to dance companies, schools and other dance organisations. He specialises in structural development and recently spent 8 months in Singapore setting up a new non-profit organisation - I Dance Central - dedicated to promoting, supporting and developing dance in Singapore.

Prior to that, Nigel was the Assistant Director of The Royal Ballet School for 14 years,  responsible to the School's Board of Governors for finance, administration, academic, recruitment and development functions , working alongside the Director, who has responsibility for artistic matters.


Responsibilities at The Royal Ballet School

Finance: The School's £3.7 million p.a. budget. Presentation of long-term financial plans, budgets and forecasts to the School's Finance Committee of Governors and negotiations annually with the Department For Education and Employment for the School's funding.

Personnel: Directly responsible for over 150 full- and part-time members of staff and determination of personnel policies for the School.

Administrative Systems and Support: To ensure the provision and operation of the most effective manual and computerised systems to support the educational and artistic activities of the School.

Academic: Monitoring of academic standards, determining the curriculum and appointing senior staff.

Recruitment: Developing and evaluating the School's Search For Talent programme, to identify and recruit the most talented pupils in the UK and from overseas.

Development: Proposing and implementing development strategies for the School. The Course Directors of all areas of the School report to the Assistant Director on non-artistic matters. Advising the Chairman of the Board of Governors on strategic matters including Board membership.

Representation: Representing the School actively on a number of national and international bodies.
