Ballet for Boys Devised and presented by RICHARD GLASSTONE Former Senior Teacher for Boys at the Royal Ballet Lower School During his seventeen years at the Royal Ballet School, Richard Glasstone taught many of Britain's most talented male dancers. In Ballet for Boys, he outlines some of his ideas and methods. It is an ideal companion for those unsure of how best to approach teaching ballet to boys. Demonstrated by young beginners, late starters and a professional dancer, the teaching of the basic movements: bending, extending, rising, turning, jumping, darting, etc. is explained and illustrated in a specialised series of exercises. These will help boys learning dancing for fun, as well as those interested in a career in ballet. Although evolved through the teaching of male dancers, the immensely helpful ideas in Ballet for Boys can be adapted and developed for any ballet class. Included with the video is a booklet by Richard Glasstone setting out some of the more important points. |
